Analysis of Lung Diseases and Detecting Deformities in Human Lung by Classifying Lung Sounds

Jayant Mankar, Praveen Kumar Malviya

Auscaltation is a skill that requires substantial clinical experience, a fine stethoscope and good listening skills. By listening to the lung sound, we would know what type of lung sound occurs such as: crackles, wheezes, stridor, rhonci etc. and identified which part of lung needs further investigation and treatment. However this diagnosis way depends heavily on the listening skills and judgement of the paramedics/doctors only. The timing, repeatability and shape of crackles are important parameters for diagnosis. In this paper we aim to classify crackles based on waveform features.
