A Novel 2 - Stage Power Conditioning System for PV Power Generation Using FPGA

Renewable energy systems especially using solar PV systems have become a subject of keen interest all around the world because of its ability to overcome the drawbacks of conventional energy systems. This paper mainly deals with a new power conditioning system for solar PV fed systems controlled with FPGA. The proposed system comprises of 2 stage power conversion technique. The first stage converts variable DC voltage from PV array into fixed DC voltage using boost converter that operates under the voltage mode control technique. During the second stage, the output from the first stage is fed to a 3-phase, 3-level diode clamped inverter controlled by level shifted sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique that converts fixed Dc to 3-phase AC which drives 3-phase AC loads efficiently.
