An Active Frequency Drift method for an Islanding Detection of Grid connected Microturbine Generation system

Islanding detection is one of the key challenges that should be analysed while integrating DG sources to grid. This paper presents a Passive Islanding detection technique for grid connected Microturbine generation System. This method is based on estimation of frequency and it compares the frequency at PCC with the predefined threshold values to detect the Islanding condition using Active Frequency Drift algorithm. Furthermore, an evaluation of the proposed method under the system dynamics is made and it detects the islanding condition in less than predefined time which is stated in IEEE 1547 standard. This model is developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment
