G.S. Mahecha, B.R. Bamniya, Neelima Nair, Dhavan Saini

Air pollution is one of the serious problems faced by the people globally due to its transboundary dispersion of pollutants over the entire world. Plants responses towards air pollution are assessed by air pollution tolerance index (APTI) value. Present study was conducted for evaluating Air Pollution Tolerance Index (APTI) value of three plant species i.e., Annona squamosa, Ficus racemosa, Santalum album growing in Madri Industrial area of Udaipur. Four physiological and biochemical parameters which are relative water content, leaf pH, Ascorbic acid, and total chlorophyll were used to compute the APTI. The plant species having higher APTI value can be given priority for plantation program in urbanize and industrial areas; so as to reduce the effects of air pollution and to make ambient atmosphere clean and healthy.
