A Review on Load and Energy Based Routing In Wireless Mesh Network

V. Lakshmi Praba, A.Mercy Rani

Wireless Mesh Networks have achieved popularity in the recent years due to their last mile Internet access, low deployment cost and self-configuring features. Routing is a recent research topic in the WMN to provide reliable and efficient route in the network. Routing protocols play a major role in finding out the route between source and destination. The existing routing protocols find the route based on the minimum hop count for the transmission. However, this default route construction process is not assured that will always lead to quick and successful delivery of packets to the destination. Sometimes the node failure, congestion, link breakage and inefficient utilization of bandwidth may be occurred. The above difficulties may be overcome by constructing a route based on quality metrics such as energy, queue length, link quality, bandwidth, etc. This paper discusses the energy based and queue based routing algorithms and protocols which have been proposed by various researchers in the area of WMN.
